Non-profit The Children’s Receiving Home of Sacramento is committed to changing the lives of abused and neglected children and their families by providing a safe haven of comfort, hope and healing.
Founded in 1944, the Children’s Receiving Home is the safety net for the Sacramento area’s abused and neglected children between the ages of 1 and 17; we are the only emergency shelter of its kind in the area. As a shelter, the Receiving Home is a refuge where children can stabilize and heal from the severe abuse and neglect they have suffered. While in our care each child receives a full scale assessment and diagnosis and a comprehensive level of services, including food, shelter and clothing, activities and recreation, an on-site school, and medical and dental care; all which enable the child to cope with their fears and process what they have experienced.
